Its large wrap around porch home usually can sum up general characteristics of the exterior of the country style. Large higher pitched roofs present the look and feel of the cottage. This style of home is also refereed to as a southern style home.

On the inside, walls are more frequently wainscot with high ceilings finished in crown molding. Windows are finished with chair molding continued from the wainscot. Molding is usually painted country white, and walls normally are finished in light cool or earth tone color. Floors are almost always hardwood or wide plank heart pine typical to most historical country homes found throughout the southeastern states.

The name states where these homes are found, in the country or rural areas outside of the city. Offering the appeal of a homely cottage, the country house is the best choice for those that enjoy the outdoors and like to relax.
